Romance, coffee and intrigue is in the air in Puerto Rico

When it comes to beautiful landscapes, rich culture, and romance, the Islands of Puerto Rico have plenty of romance and intrigue to offer.  Divided into five regions, the entire countryside is a mere 3 hour drive from coast to coast.

Clear blue skies, golden sandy beaches, lagoons, lakes, caves and forests are only some of the treasures you will find in San Juan and many other of its’ Northern destinations. In the east, you’ll find romance mixed with adventure in the numerous golf courses, nature reserves and impressive underwater reefs and cays.

World-famous for its’ coffee, Puerto Rico has just about everything you will ever need for creating a quaint romantic beachside café with candles, dinner, and delectable desserts. Coffee lovers would surely delight to learn that Arabic coffee has been produced in Puerto Rico since 1736.  The aroma and flavors of Arabic coffee can often fill the air with a romantic essence. As every coffee lover knows, there is nothing more sensual than the smell of coffee to warm the heart.

There is so much to see and do; every moment you spend in Puerto Rico is bound to offer romance, inspiration and a charm all its’ own.

For those of you who are more inclined to plan your romantic moments, here are some of the best ideas and destinations to consider:

  • Porta del sol is home to some of the world’s greatest surfing areas, coastal forests, coffee and sugar farms and boasts several public golf courses and marinas. You can take a romantic boat cruise with your lover or surf the deep blue seas looking for buried treasures. Anything that you can think of doing on the water from snorkeling to kayaking to surfing, fishing and sailing is available at a moment’s notice.
  • In Porta Caribe you can explore 15 breathtaking towns and fishing villages while you swim in the most beautiful beaches and hike the numerous elaborate forests.  This area has fresh water lakes for fishing and is known for its many Carnival activities.
  • A United Nations World Biosphere Reserve, the El Yunque Rainforest is a must see stop on any romantic getaway.  You and your loved one can stroll through the treetops on a 60-foot elevated walkway, hike to the waterfall and enjoy a swim in the natural pools.  Is there any better way to spend and fun filled adventurous day?
  • If all this was not already enough, why not go spelunking and hiking in the Rio Camuy Caves, an impressive subterranean cave network?  Trams will take you through the dense tropical vegetation down to the mouth of Clara cave and you will basque in the beautiful fauna and flora while you spend a few quite relaxing moments together.
  • Pureto Rico is rich in archaeological sites and is home to two botanical gardens.  It’s a great area to shop for fine crafts from local artists, as well as , take a romantic horseback ride through a coffee plantation high in the mountains.Romantic Travel Magazine, zipline in Puerto Rico

No romantic getaway would be complete without souvenirs; luckily you can plan to go shopping at the largest shopping center in the Caribbean, Plaza las Americas, in Hato Rey.  There are over 300 stores selling everything from local pottery to high end  fashion.

If all this fun in the sun sounds like too much action, and you just want to chill by the beach in a lawn chair, next to your lover listening to the waves lap against the sand, while sipping a strawberry margarita or rum and coke, that is perfectly fine, just remember to add some candles, flowers and romantic music to set the stage.

Where will romance take you today?
